Are there alternatives to endodontic treatment?

When a tooth is diagnosed with an endodontic problem, you have three options. First, you can always do nothing and the pain and/or infection will continue to get worse. Second, You can have an extraction and have the tooth replaced with a fixed bridge, implant, or removable partial denture, which is more time-consuming and more costly than endodontic treatment. And third, if you want to save the natural tooth, there really are no alternatives. The diseased pulp tissue must be removed from inside the tooth to eliminate the possibility of pain and infection. Usually, a tooth that has undergone endodontic treatment can last a lifetime and modern tooth replacements are not as good as having the natural tooth.
